Stichting Open

Stichting OPEN (formerly Stibat) was established to help producers and importers of batteries meet their obligation to collect and process used batteries (and products containing them). Peperzeel manages the collection, sorting, and processing of all batteries for Stichting OPEN throughout the Netherlands. More than 4,500 tonnes of batteries are sorted annually using specially developed machinery.

Orange List

Currently, all batteries fall under the Orange List procedure of EU Regulation 1013/2006. This procedure has been revised in Brussels. The revision involves tightening the process such that the free transit of these types of residues is no longer permitted. Transport is only allowed with the explicit consent of all involved (transit) countries. For years, Peperzeel has held the necessary permits to transport batteries safely and legally throughout Europe, including under these new conditions.
